Amalie Hammershøi

My passion for traditional handicrafts and arts and crafts started as a child. Much of my family comes from Bornholm, so when visiting family, we always stopped by the island's many glassblowers and ceramists. This is where I first became interested in the creative processes and craftsmanship. My education at the Rudolf Steiner school also helped to open my curiosity and enthusiasm for different crafts and materials.

My fascination continues today and clay and ceramics have now become my work, which I enjoy every day.

On a daily basis you can find me at my workshop at Frontløberne in Aarhus and at Yonobi - Aarhus, where I teach.

You can of course find my ceramics here on the site, but also at Nr4 crafts, design and interior in Jægergårdsgade, Ganefryd in Klostergade and in Copenhagen you can find my things on Amagerbrogade at Butik Alrum.

With sustainability in mind

    Created with care

As an artisan who creates new things for the world, it is important to me to make climate-friendly decisions wherever possible.

This means that I only produce locally in my workshop, make designs that should last a very long time and that I make small quantities so that I don't produce more than I can sell.

    The clay is recycled

In shaping the clay, there may have been some that is cut off and set aside. I save all this clay and reuse it so that no clay goes to waste. I also pick up recycled materials from other workshops, which I then slurry up and use in my own work.

  • Amalie branding the bags with orange ink for sales. The stamp was hand-carved by Amalie and hand-printed by her as well

    More than packaging

When I send packages or wrap ceramics for you, I use packaging that is recycled, biodegradable and FSC certified. In addition, I print all my bags myself, with a beautiful hand-cut linoleum print, so they can be used many times.

Follow the process
